In Him We Fall Asleep

There’s no need to dwell on what’s gone,
But over and over again I see the fun.
I had you those many trips and years.
And I know it shouldn’t, yet pain sears.
I never thought our last goodbye would be
The last time you would ever get to see me.
Something about the whole situation is strange,
Something only an Almighty God could arrange.
He called you unexpectedly home to His side
To leave us here to know with us He will abide.
He will always be here to always hold us to Him,
And to pull us closer when we feel far from Him.
The comfort of His promise resonates inside myself,
And I’m sure it had taken root inside yourself.
He has promised to guide and to guard, to keep,
And to protect us until in Him we fall asleep.
He promised that just as His son rose from the grave,
He will continue to keep His promise to save.
We will rise from the dead in the same way,
And follow Him to Heaven to sing His praise.
