Candle in the Window

That night you left I lit a candle, and I placed it in the window.
I would sit there at the window looking-waiting for you.
That candle was my beaken of hope;
"Maybe you will see the light like a ship to a lighthouse," I thought.
I waited for days;
Days turned to weeks,
Weeks turned to months,
And months turned to years.
Even after my endless slumber I wait for you with a candle in the window.
