The World and Your Place In It

It’s that moment when you’re walking down the street and you see an old man begging, so you give him your ten dollar bill and watch him roll it up and light the paper and watch your week’s dinner burn up into the sky.

That’s ungratefulness.

It’s that moment when you’re walking into the locker room and overhear your friend talking about your “ugly” shirt that she complemented earlier that day.

That’s jealousy.

It’s that moment when you spend your all your allowance to buy the perfect Christmas gift for your sister and she gives it a glace and looks past it at her new flat screen. It breaks two weeks later.

That’s ignorance

It’s that moment when your best friend stands between you and his girlfriend and you hear her say the words “me or her” and you never see him again.

That’s misunderstanding.

It’s that moment when you look past all the things those people did and forgive and then take them in your arms and hold them.

That’s love.
