The Girl in the Shadows

Black and broken petals flow in the breeze
No destination in sight
Not even at ease
A gentle wind blows to carry them away
Torn and frayed like an old book in the light

A quiet girl sits
Lonely and morbid
Her writings sit still as the cold wind hits
A pen in her hand
A picture of words as beautiful as an orchid

The petals fly free
On the girl's pages a secret lies deep
The petals land like a heap of a broken key
Her words screaming amongst the pages and petals
A secret of sorrow that causes her to weep

The wind moans in sorrow
The girl sits shattered like glass
A neverending depression for no tomorrow
The pages glint maliciously like a blade in the sun
A girl sits with a lonliness that never seems to pass

Shattered
Broken
Frayed
Like the pages in a book

Torn
Quiet
Afraid
Like a criminal who always took

She sits alone in a forest so deep
She sits alone without a peep
She dies before she wakes and leaves her book to keep
She lays quiet and full of numbness to seep
She stays there with words in a heap

Black and broken petals flow in the breeze
No destination in sight
Not even at ease
A gentle wind blows to carry them away
Torn and frayed like an old book in the light
