Thoughts and Dreams

Mystic shadows clog your mind.
Unseen figures, undefined.
Shallow breathing and suffocation.
Racing heart and perspiration.
Mirrors shattered like your heart.
Mind broken and ripped apart.
Closed window, locked door.
Déjà vu, been here before.
White walls and blinding light.
Struggle wildly and try to fight.
Close your eyes and dream a dream.
Cover your mouth and do not scream.
Inner demons drive you insane.
Feeling nothing but your pain.
Open window, try to flee.
False hope, you need a key.
Nothing sacred, nowhere to hide.
Thoughts coming like the tide.
Lay in bed but do not sleep.
Counting cuts instead of sheep.
One, two, they grow and grow.
Hide them well so they won’t know.
Watch the clock, time runs out.
One more second to scream and shout.
Smiling face used as a shield.
Running through a burning field.
Death and hope, they look alike.
Hidden figure, prepared to strike.
Given an offer, you can’t refuse.
Dreams or thoughts, which will you choose?
