A Bystander's Perspective

A downward curve reversed,
Teeth shown, eyes smile,
The unrealistic yet sweet realization
That for a split second
You're truly, and only, human

It's something simple,
Something ordinary,
Something common,
You've done this before.
I acknowledged it.
I accepted it.
I didn't care for it.

Yet for this moment,
I believe you.
And for this moment,
I feel sorry for you.
And for a moment,
I actually smile.
