Solitude

Solitude is an infection
Spreading through my veins like ink
Chilling me to the bone
It suffocates
Every dream and wish of happiness I’ve ever had
I’m choking
It’s forcing the light out
Blackness like mercury
Sleek and flowing
Floods my mind
Dark vines of silence pull me back
When I try to escape

Your eyes
How they glow
Rip apart the abysmal cage of isolation
The sound of your voice
Fills the emptiness
In your arms
The vines cannot
Reach me
Their creeping fingers don’t infect
My mind, it’s shielded by
Your radiance

But the solitude is powerful
Growing constantly
My fear
Feeding the silence
Don’t let me go
Or the quiet will invade
It will consume my world
Crushing emptiness
Black and never-ending
Do not let me fall
Into the void…
