The Olympic Dream

It's a chance that comes round once in four years,
For an athlete to become king of his peers.
The runners run around
As the jumpers hit the ground.
Then the whole crowd turns to tears
As their home team appears.

It's an athlete's wish to fulfill a dream.
To win a gold medal in an Olympic team.
Everyone here's entering Beijing
They're all praying, begging to become king.

The torchbearer represents the Olympic ideal
Of innocence, honesty, purity and zeal.
The symbol for the games is five coloured rings
Which the crowd all admire as they start to sing.

Now it is the end of the day,
But the memories will always stay;
Of the winners and losers,
The wishers, the dreamers,
And the whole stunned crowd
Just walk away.

This was for a competition we had to enter in yr7 but I decided to put it up to see what people think.
