I'm Not Shy

Look at her, they say.
How sweet, how shy.
They coo and tsk.
But they are dead wrong.
A strong heart beats within me,
I'm not another docile lamb.
But they would never know.
Because my thoughts,
My spoken feelings,
Fall on deaf ears.
They shut themselves off from what I have to say.
Stuck in their delusions.
But that sweet quiet creature?
That isn't me.
I could have a moving speech,
Perched on my able tongue,
But they wouldn't hear.
They never do.
You probably won't hear me either,
As I shout these words.
I'm not shy! I scream into the lonliness.
But you don't hear me.
No one does.
