In the rain, just for tonight

I'll have you know, I can feel the rain
Falling on my upturned face,
I lie outside and ignore my pain
Sweeping my mind of any trace
Of thoughts I'd rather not face -
Not tonight.

Soaked through to the bone
Shivering in the cold,
Still I'm not going home
Not until I'm told
That the damage done to my battered soul
Can be repaired; but that wont be tonight.

Please cleanse me, now, wash away my fears
Cold and wet mingling with my tears,
The rain keeps calling for me to stay
My spirits continue falling further away
Sinking far deeper down then what they
Have ever fallen, before tonight.

The rain pounds harder as thunder roars
Yet there is still nothing that I could want more
Than to lie here, in the wet, in the cold,
In the rain -
Just for tonight .
