End Like This

I’ll say this truth just this one time
And though to you it seems unjust
Even after my long, drawn out climb
I’ve lost my will to give out trust

Don’t blame yourself, it’s not your fault
You just placed the final straw
So I lock my heart in this protective vault
And write this personal, bitter law

That I won’t open up to be broken by lies
Because it seems even innocence is no longer pure
Yes, you turned out to be the poison’s disguise
When I so desperately needed you to be the cure

Dry your tears; quit feigning shame
In the end, I am to blame
