Darling, who are we fooling here?

"Hush little darling, don't say a word,"
your sweet voice whispers, making my eyes flutter and fight sleep,
"I'm gonna buy you a mocking-bird,"
you sing of bribery, you sing of lies
Lies webbed themselves into meaningless lullabies

I dream, dream of what you say to me
All you ever said, all you ever told me
They're all lies, lies of a fairytale you've always seemed to believe in
But, wakeup, we're in reality
Of cold and unforgiving tales of merciless stories of death and pain
There's no princess, there's no prince
Just a broken girl and a dying boy
We're all hiding, hiding within our own bodies
Hidden under our pile of lies

Inside we're crying, crying out for help
But on the outside we allow fake laughs to escape our lips
and large smiles take up our faces
But, darling, who are we fooling?
Our frail hearts are in loose laces.
