Blood By The Rock Pools

The forest is empty tonight.
There are no birds to echo their cries.
There is no wind to rustle the trees.
She is not there tonight.

The passage has been spoken,
Though the family has not been awoken.
In the scripts, her name glows with light.
Though the temple is not where she'll be tonight.

Down by the river,
Her body laced in bloody curls.
Her neck grinning with rings of rich, glossy pearls.
Fingertips scrape at the surface as she lies,
Because amongst the bloody rocks
Is where she sleeps tonight.

Short and sweet.
