It Happened One Night (Stand)

He said there was nothing wrong,
With staying for one long night,
To fall apart in each others arms,
But how could she forget?

He used her, he borrowed her heart for a night
He broke her down until she had nothing left in sight
I can’t believe anyone would fall for his scheme.
I can’t watch him self destruct.

Every panted line, each word he spoke
It was all a big façade
A way to see clearer,
But a way to just forget.

He packed up his bags and he took up a broken heart
With a last glance, he stole away with his confidence intact
He couldn’t believe he had just walked from it
He just hit the self destruct.

Each painted mask, every twisted stroke,
He covered up his tracks.
No one to be there to help
Take the pain he couldn’t just forget.

I tossed his words back at his face
Just for a chance to gloat ‘I told you so’
Now he’s paying me back, he’s paying me back
And I just lost the race.
