The Lonely God

“Adrift upon the sea of time the lonely god wanders from shore to distant shore upholding the laws of the stars above. The riddler, the trickster, he of many faces who see’s life in death and fears no evil; he who walks through doors.”

Adrift upon the sea of time…caught in the torrent of despair,
He wanders from land to distant land seeing that all is just, all is fair.
The work never done, his song still un-sung, yet still he toils away.
Year after year lifetime after lifetime pass him by but never a ‘thank you’ to pass his way.

Unknown and a mystery he travels through history doing what needs to be done.
The curse he bears, though seldom he shares, what he craves most of all is simply the companionship of one.

Many years have passed him by, with only the comfort of the stars in the sky.
The only man to journey so far away, one of few who knows’ where the angels lay.
The magnificent forms bathed in light, betray the inner intentions of their true blight,
Even those so pure and right, their prayer their power, their souls their honor all these they were forced to pay.
For the evils of man, the corruption, the greed, not even they could keep at bay.

In rage and blindness he was cursed and clipped, merely thrown away,
The result; his own selfish vow of vengeance to make them pay.
A million lives to live, a thousand pains endured,
Such was the torment they felt only he deserved.
All for merely ‘staying the course’

His methods questionable, belief in him unsure,
He works in mysterious ways but the outcome assured.
Pranks, tricks, leis and deceit, unusual methods all used by He,
But from darkness comes light and of evil comes good just as it should be.

His fate known, his destiny set, he no longer dreads the journey ahead,
Remaining unable to seek solace, not through drink, or battle, not even whilst dead.
The gritting life of a thousand veterans stored, yet still he persists, still he moves forward.
The seeker of truth, of right, of the just, he puts one foot in front, again and again as he through in the dust,
On the road that most men dread, he fears not the path ahead.
As he walks towards the end he will look back and sigh,
Into the realm where all things die.

the quote at the beginning is from both Doctor Who as well as from Arya in the book Brisingr, this is merely a personal fancy based on the quote, sorry for the typical theatrical ending but i ended up falling into the last few lines and could think of absolutely nothing else that rhymed with sigh...and fit. nevertheless enjoy, comment, etc.
