Annabelle

Icey veins, slithering blood.
Cold as an ocean, thick as mud.
Suddenly gasping in fear,
Wondering if her end was near.

She cried out, "Mother, Mother!"
All she could hear was her father.
But this father, he wasn't just hers,
But the father that left her so warm and pure.

The mans deep voice yelped at her,
"The sickness is over, they found the cure."
The monitor cried out, as the line dropped,
While little Annabelle's heart instantly stopped.

Warm, hopeless tears ran down her mother's face,
Holding her little, white hat, made with soft lace.
Hugging Annabelle, as the tears dropped to her gown,
Her mother knew Annabelle didn't belong in this town.

The tiny coffin with Annabelle lay in front,
The building so cold, so dark, so blunt.
Standing near the hard, wooden casket,
Kissing Annabelle's cheek as she closed it.

She turned around to find a note on the floor,
She began to read it as she opened her car door.
"I love you mommy, you made me smile,
I'm gone for now, but just for alittle while."

Her mother looked back to the pit,
She couldn't figure out how she wrote it.
Seeing a little girl on the busy street,
She looked at her and stood to her feet.

She ran to her, looking in her bright blue eyes.
The little girl said, "Mommy everything's alright."
The girl disappeared, right in front of her.
Annabelle and her father were okay for sure.
