My Buddy

He was just a young man, Just like me,
Always on the go and never let you see.
He was so very special, and so dear to my heart,
I thought that I could hold us together and never come apart.
He brought me a lot of memories,
I never will forget, some I will remember forever,
And some I may regret.
But we have to let them go,
And let them have their own space,
Just sit along the side and let them run their race.
So give then a lot of love, give them good advice,
Without any questions, and never think twice.
My buddy asked me questions,
some of which were rare,
Sometimes they were really easy,
and sometimes we had to share.
But our buddies grow up and find their own way,
All we can do is let them and hope they learn to say.
To say the words "I Love You",
and show how much they care,
to find the courage and wisdom,
and still find time to share.

P.S.
These things are very important,
and very hard to find.
And we really never find them,
Until we're left behind.
