A Place to Call Home

I see the fire burn as the candle melts,
I watch the water move in motion as if entwined together,
I listen to the air breathe down the neck,
Telling me to move with it,
To become one with it,
And when I take a stand and begin to move,
The earth becomes still,
As if they were playing to get my attention,
To see if I would contribute to it’s call,
So I wait,
And wait,
I wait until I can wait no more,
Then the wind beings to howl,
And the water jumps all around,
As I turn and gaze,
For all that I see is earth,
Earth saying ‘Look,
Look at me and see how I am.’
I sigh and nod my head,
I feel the air down my neck,
I inhale and look around,
For these challenge they give me is my home,
And what’s a home without earth.
