Goodbye

We stand together,
On bloody floors and broken glass
They look on,
He touches my face; the lightest of caresses
The tears in my eyes spill over,
With his forehead pressed against mine,
His eyes closed he whispers, ‘I love you’
‘Forever?’ I ask broken,
He cracks the ghost of his wild smile,
‘Yes,’ he breathes, then with a small kiss,
He bids me adieu,
My vampire sweetheart,
Pushed away,
They said that he could not stay
He is immoral, they say
But what do they know?
They lie with false smiles
Their hearts black and small
Their eyes hard and cold
I try to hold him, while the tears freefall
But they hold me back,
His blue eyes are sad as he leaves
He disappears as his black wings fade in the sky
They are wrong
They are immoral ones,
They pushed us apart,
Me and my vampire sweetheart
They pushed us apart,
And broke my heart
