War and the Human Mind

The human mind is the most complex of any animal on Earth.
It has the ability to create, to invent, to understand, to learn.
It has the ability to make choices whether right or wrong,

The ability to solve problems and create riddles.
The capacity to become something so great, so terrifyingly great
That it can even make the choice to save or to kill.

It can trigger the most complex of emotions; the most powerful:
Our anger, envy and jealousy to become hate
Our happiness, humour and joy to become love.

It can also, however, make the choices of whether to allow war
The decision to launch a country into battle against their brothers.
The ability to feel no pain over the death of their own kind

And even the capability of hating their very kind because of the colour of their skin
Or the shape of their face, or even their very religion
Whichever God they worship is surely the same God altogether?

How can a mind that is so bright and knowledgeable
Be willing to commit murder because of their emotions.
A mind capable to invent and bring life yet take it away in seconds.

When we are all the same we should combine our minds
To become the greatest and continue on
With prosperity, hope and peace

As Shakespeare once wrote: "Nothing is either Good or Bad but thinking makes it so."
