Summer Dawn
When the first streaks of the golden sun
Have just begun to rise from the midnight sky
That is one of the most beautiful times
When the morning dew still stays in the air
Keeping it cool everywhere
Sticking to my forehead
Along my bare arms
In the warm summer dawn sun
When everything’s still
Not much awake
But I’m wide awake
When the peace is still near
When everything feels balanced along the world
When the birds first sing
Their morning melody
Humming along and flying high
Giving the sky more color up high
When the crickets still play
The lightning bugs still show
When the owls finally go into their holes
When the mice have scurried off to their beds
The world is sleeping soundlessly still
When the water in the lake is still quite cold
Quite unmoving and sparkling
It glitters in the first specks of light from the sun
Before the fish wake up
And ruin the trance
When the colored sky
Turns pink and purple
Before the everlasting blue
Takes its permanent place
When the light first glitters
Against the still darkened sky
The first streaks bringing light all around
In the summer morning dawn
Have just begun to rise from the midnight sky
That is one of the most beautiful times
When the morning dew still stays in the air
Keeping it cool everywhere
Sticking to my forehead
Along my bare arms
In the warm summer dawn sun
When everything’s still
Not much awake
But I’m wide awake
When the peace is still near
When everything feels balanced along the world
When the birds first sing
Their morning melody
Humming along and flying high
Giving the sky more color up high
When the crickets still play
The lightning bugs still show
When the owls finally go into their holes
When the mice have scurried off to their beds
The world is sleeping soundlessly still
When the water in the lake is still quite cold
Quite unmoving and sparkling

When I saw the first rays of sun, I started thinking about how nice it would’ve been to go outside.
