Hiroshima

The Japanese brought this upon themselves.
They could’ve saved Hiroshima from an atomic hell.

The Potsdam ultimatum gave them all fair warning,
As tension between the Allies and Japan kept forming.
Their government chose the path of the mokusatsu lit,
So naturally we saw how our atom bomb fit.

No one knew how many would die
When our Enola Gay flew over high
And dropped the weapon.
The destroyer of Mankind.
Most survivors could not believe their eyes.

They couldn’t believe we ended so many lives.
We warned the government we tried and tried,
But they simply ignored our merciful cries.

So fine, sit back and keep your pride
And listen to your people scream as they die.

Don’t look up, our bomb blotted out the sky,
As you walk and tell them without lies.
As you tell your half dead, burned people why,
And as you see that some no longer have much time.

So hopefully now you’ll see our reasoning.
If not, we’ll rain down the likes of which they’ve never seen.
Monsters to them, we would seem.
Unfortunately, this hasn’t all been just a bad dream.

Little Boy, gave Hiroshima a devastating sting
And now Nagasaki will hear the Fat Man sing.

This was an old english project. Our teacher told us to choose a side on the Hiroshima bombings and create something artistic to express our view. I personally belive that we didnt have to use such devastating weapons but americans hardly listen to reason.
