The Sky Walk

Above the earth, I stand
Watching the world below expand

The wind, a gentle caress
In my moment of deep distress

The world is not what it appears
I haven’t seen, through all my years

The place I live, so very poor and dark
The people only a minor mark

But the destruction caused so large and vast
From many years that have passed

A forest, cut down and broken
In it’s place, a town has awoken

Soldiers, marching in a war
Becoming pain we all bore

A child, a scream of pain
Her crying a work in vain

A man, a gun
No time to run

And a bird, coughing and sputtering
Lets out its last breath as its wings stop fluttering

Each ghastly sight
I witness with fright

What has this world
Come to have unfurled

Among the clouds, I walk on
Thinking of the world, I feel withdrawn

But then the clouds move once more
This time different from before

A baby saying his first word
The voice ever so slurred

A flower blooming among dead grass
Astounding all that come pass

A girl and a boy, first kiss
Such bliss

A puppy jumping up and down
As people pet her from all around

And the couple who swear
To each other to never be unfair

My mind spins, then I smile
Wanting to watch the sights for a little while

No matter what cruel
There will always be fair
There will always be a fool
But for everything, do you care?

And so ends this little talk
And so I seize my sky walk
