Sisters

For those of us with sisters,
We know the pain they cause.

The searing pain of jealousy,
How only they can break our parents’ laws.

Sometimes sisters love each other,
Sharing stories of hopes and dreams and boys.

Lots of times we hate each other,
For no matter our age they’ll always take our toys.

When you have a sister your life is split,
She got the looks and the flair.

Having a sister is full of injustice,
And for each other you must re-learn how to care.

My sister is funny and loving and earth-friendly,
And annoying and loud and beloved.

But my sister and I have the same blood in our veins,
So I’m telling her now that she’ll always be loved.

Through our arguments and our catfights,
For our love of animals and each other,

My sister I will always love,
(Though I may not ever tell her).

Through the thick and the thin,
The smooth and the rough,

My sister is my sister,
And she’s made of the right stuff.

I love you, sis!
