Graduating

We start the year and cannot wait to end it,
We follow the rules, fold our hands and have a hard chair to sit in.
We take our tests and get our grades,
We play our sports and participate in this class charade.

The year seems to drag on forever,
The end seems like never.
But pretty soon months turn into weeks, weeks into days, days into hours,
We get scared to move forward, and we want to restart the year, but those wishes are not in our power.

We wear our gowns and receive our diplomas: we graduated!
We all hug and cry; our shirts are tear-stained and saturated.
Promises to keep in touch and visit are made,
But soon enough the once strong relationship we had fade.

We must go our different ways,
The ghost of our friendship haunts our days.
We picked our different schools and friends,
We must move on and cannot pretend.

Soon enough, summer ends and September brings fall,
A new school year has begun and we forget to call.
Our old friends are now in the past,
We’ve made new friends that we hope will last.
Still, we never forget the school,
Or the fact that we thought we were so cool.
We never forget the times we shared,
Or the people we know who truly cared.

Even if we are not in touch,
We know that our years together brought us close enough.
Even if this seems like the end of our life, it is only the start,
We will always be Expos at heart.

No matter where we go,
We have a piece of each other in tow.
Because we are the SSJ Class of 2010…Forever Young,
The ride we shared may have been a long one, but it has been fun.
