Condemned Paradise

Once upon a time,
there were two flowers growing together in a secluded field.
One was a radiant red rose,
the other a luminescent blue daisy.
They lived was a calm and blissful place, one where a person might find themselves daydreaming about the blessed things in life.
They grew slowly, taking their own sweet time,
relishing in the sun and the rain,
and also growing to become the best of friends.
As time passed, weeds and thorns found their way into the meadow, and began to grow up around them.
The two flowers soon were immensely outnumbered by the weeds and thorns,
because as we all know,
weeds reproduce extremely fast.
The intruders soon threatened to choke the two flowers,
and the rose submitted itself to its death willingly.
The other flower, however,
stood its ground,
and was wrapped in the thorns and weeds.
And just before the daisy had its very life taken,
a shadow fell across the field,
sweeping away all the weeds and thorns from the land,
and throwing them into a pit of fire.
The daisy was exuberant,
and looked around for its friend, the rose.
But it was nowhere to be seen.
For it too
had been swept away with the weeds and thorns.
By giving itself willingly, it had
sealed its sentence.
And so,
the daisy,
whilst living in paradise,
was condemned to living a life in solitude,
with only the eternally waving blades of
grass to keep her company,
and a hole in her heart.
