Save Me...

I held you tight against me, as we were floating in the air.
You placed a soft kiss upon my lips with a loving, crooked smile.
The look on your face turned to horror as we plummeted to the ground.

I awoke to the screams of her being stabbed by the shards of this broken home.
I remained in bed, thinking of you, sending a dove to tell of my troubles.
You replied quickly, eager to save me.
A yell of pain, and a broomstick shoots across the sky.

He yells out the window for her... demanding her return.
The troll trudges off to his dungeon.

I put on my shoes and take off running.
I release the dove you had replied with, allowing it to fly freely to you.
My fear of the outdoors at night seems to have disappeared.

I set out on foot, starting my journey down this endless road.
Each house I pass subconciously serves my mind as a checkpoint.
My motivation relies solely on you, my love.
I know you'll be there if this road ever does end.

I hear the wolves howling behind me.
They're hungry as hell for a runaway servant girl.

Shadows cross the path.
Shadows that make my stomach churn and heart beat faster.
However, I don't let my eyes wander.
It's almost too dark to see anything.

The travel seemed useless.
I would never reach my destination.
Another house to my left.
No surprise there.

I walked on with my heart beating out of my chest.
Entering a section with trees crouching over each side, it feels as though the world is closing in.
The space becomes so small.
My breathing becomes so heavy, leaving small white clouds in the pitch black air.

Around the bend I can see another house.
When will this ever end?
My legs are so cold that they've grown numb.
I honestly can no longer feel that I'm walking.

It only feels as though I'm an android with no brain or no soul.
And my main purpose in life is to walk and just keep walking.
My chin has also grown numb with each worried breath I take.

You see the green tail of the dying sky.
It drops to show you my precise location.

I see a light

Could this be the light that I've been waiting for?
It can't be... It has to be just another porch light.

I feel the freezing air all around.
Maybe I'll never escape; I'll just die trying.

As I grow closer to the light, I realize this is the light of the heavens.
Shining upon the end of this endless street.

I never even realized that I had started running.
Rounding the corner, I don't see anything except the streetlight, and another road.

A frown apears upon my face, sadness upon my shoulders.
I had expected you here.
How could you not be?

Just then I saw you walking on the opposite side of the road.
You enveloped me into a hug, rocking me slowly back and forth.
Journeying toward your home, we were desperate for placed to conceal ourselves when things would pass by.
For if someone saw you helping me escape...
All of that traveling would prove itself useless because I would be returned to my prison.

We ran through the empty field.
You remained ahead of me as we sprinted towards the woods.

Slowly we scaled the hill, hiding ourselves in the trees.

As the darkness began to lift, we ran out of places to hide.
Lines of purple and orange began to appear along the horizon.

We travel along the fence line, until it ends.
Beyond the shortcut through the next three fields lay the haven of your home.

As soon as we arrived, you laid me down to rest, and I fell into a dream.

You held me tight against you, as we were floating in the air.
I felt you place a soft kiss upon my lips with a loving, crooked smile.
As my eyes fluttered open, they met yours.
You put your arm around me, and I slept quietly in your arms.
