A Letter to A Friend

stop grasping at straws and clutching your throat. you aren't dying, darling. you're just scared, i know. but take one look and realize that it'll all be okay if you try to accept it all at once. you're growing up, and so am i, and in this world it's all we can hope for. we need some maturity to bring us muddled clarity.

don't hide your eyes, and stop shrinking from society. anxiety isn't the enemy here. you are. you are the bravest person in the world, but you're letting your doubts take your confidence in a death-hold. i'm scared for you, but i know that you can make it.

because that's just the way you are. you are the person who puts on a smile and goes through the day trying to make everyone happy. and i can say sincerely that it works. you always seem to know what to do.

and...

i just wish you could see how beautiful you truly are. i wish that you would realize that even when things aren't easy, you are the one who can always make it through. you need to stand tall and take the compliments given to you. stop denying what is true and stop blocking the world from seeing your eyes. keep your back straight and remember something else...

it isn't enough to ignore everything that comes your way. stop avoiding your chances and take life by the horns. do not doubt, and do not float away. you're too good for that. you may be a mess, but you can sweep it up and start fresh. you aren't unmanageable. you just need help sometimes.

don't forget to ask when you need something.
you're better than you thought.
