Silence

Silence.
Can you hear it?
Knocking at the door,
Creeping through the walls,
Hidden in your eyes,
mocking your restrictive tongue.

Silence.
Can you feel it?
Lingering in the air, heavy as sin,
Clogging up your throat
And stuttering your words,
to a deathly halt.

Silence.
Do you fear it?
Slurring your speech,
Crawling up your skin,
Overpowering your mind,
with silent empty thoughts.

Silence.
Will you let it take you,
or will you stand and speak?
