The Science

They were together for those few minutes
When all side of the earth fell into darkness.
Pressed against one another,
So close she could feel his heartbeat
Thudding with hers.
As he looked into her eyes, her heart began to race,
Much faster than his had ever gone.
Oh, she was in love.
Then, the sun began to shine, and the lovers
Fled in opposite directions.
To be seen together was unthinkable,
And to love each other was impossible.
But, she would see him the next time
The sun was hidden by the moon.
