Solitude Court

--written on 1.10.06

in summer,
a wind blows across the grass
making it ripple across all the lawns
the sun scorches the jet-black street
silence strikes the neighborhood
with only a single house
on solitude court.

in winter,
peace waves with the frosty wind
like a current of water
ice bites at your cheeks if you visit
but somehow, no one ever does
snowflakes fall without a sound
on solitude court.

in spring,
the flowers burst and bloom
showing off their radiant colors
the pond ripples and splashes
but no one is around to hear it
on solitude court.

in fall,
a lone willow stands still and silent
its leaves swaying in the cool air
the neighborhood is speckled
with orange, red, and yellow
on solitude court.
