Should I Still Believe?

She runs in circles
Knowing nothing
Feeling everything
Why do we believe in fairy tales?

She cries out to whoever she believes in,

"Oh how I wish it would end!
An angel, please, God send,
End this sorrow
So I may see tomorrow
Cause maybe life's a whirlwind
But, with faith, I still believe in fairy tales!"

The night is dark and cold
The stale air is disgustingly old
Failing heart
Fleeting dreams
Her voice rings in endless screams,

She drops to her knees and pleads,

"Why is this so painful?
Why does he say talk
And then he hits?
Why does he do this to me?
Endless torture
But I believe my Prince Charming is out there
No matter what
I still believe in fairy tales!"

Truth was
Her life had ended that night
To walk the world is her plight
What made it worse was that she refused to fight
She thought he would save her!
Turned out it was all a game
She felt the shame
When he turned out to be an unhealthy sport

And yet she screams
Wailing the same tune
Now different words,

"Oh how he bruises!
Only uses and abuses!
Afterlife isn't fun
How I miss the sun
I wish this could be undone!
Now I'm sorry I fooled myself
With dreams of a Prince!
Dreams of a Knight
I'm sorry I believed in fairy tales
When the real world is cold
I'm sorry..."

She wails
But alas, she invokes nightmares
To shatter your soul
She wants company down in the dark
Do you still believe in fairy tales?
