The Night

The time has come for night to fall upon me.
The sun is gone and now darkness is free.
Frogs and crickets play the rhythm of the night
As the moon shines bright, allowing for sight.
Creatures of the night lurk deep within the gloom,
Bringing forth a portentous feeling of doom.
Brutal sights and all the frightful sounds I hear
Are beginning to fill my mind with fear.
I run faster and faster, trying to flee,
But the darkness just follows. It surrounds me.

I can't make an escape, but hope is not gone;
It won't be long until the breaking of dawn.
On the horizon the sun starts to ascend
As colors of darkness and light start to blend.
My fears start to leave and the pain starts to ease
It's as if the darkness were a type of disease.
The sun shines so bright and takes away my fright,
Creatures of the night have given up the fight.
The sun has risen, the darkness overthrown,
Revealing all things previously unknown.
