I Am To Die.

A fish swims in the water,
Pearlesque and liquid as can be.
It is snatched from life.
It is taken from the world.

I am the fish,
I am its cry.
I am suffocating,
I am to die.

This world traps itself around me,
And squeezes me of breath.
This earth cannot bound me,
But I wish for it again.

My pale skin is like the wet scales of this fish,
My green eyes are of the dead fish, the dead thing.
My worthless life is no longer, for it was that of this other,
My body is waning, as the fish is gutted by rough hands.
My breath has been failing, but I haven't any to breathe.
My love is forever, but it is as ephemeral as life.

Life is the fish, swimming with the water.
Life is my wish, but I wish for it to just stop.
For I am nothing without this sallow fish,
Because I am the fish.
I am to die.
