Day and Night

The moons silvery gleam silhouettes the land,
As it climbs through the stars and takes its place,
Where the sun previously hung all buttery and bright,
Before falling back to sleep in outer space.

Then the stilling darkness of the summer’s night,
Betrays all the warmth of the lightened day,
And silences the world in a velvety blanket,
Until the dimming shadows slowly melt away.

The day then awakes and the sky opens up,
As young children’s shadows scatter the floor,
Soon to be gone as the day reaches its nigh,
And the glistening moon climbs to the sky once more.
