Nightmare

Broken hearts
starless nights
grab it all
and say goodbye

changes come
and people go
but one person
just won't let go

a starless night
I drift to sleep
with city lights
still wide awake

He wakes at night
comes out to play
that little ache
won't go away

I see him there
in my sleep
a nightmare
kept wide awake

My heart thumps
my palms sweat
my stomach churns
my heart burns

In a crowded room
in a corner
the nightmare sits
waiting for me

His hair with curls
the color of mud
his eyes could kill
at his will

My life as I know it
is cutting him out
almost like a fever
you cant sweat out
