Underneath

You may think you know a person,
Better than anyone else,
But one day they will surprise you.
Maybe you didn’t know them at all,
Maybe the person you thought they were,
Is not the person they are.
Maybe they’ve been hiding,
Trying to be someone they’re not.
What you see on the surface,
May be the opposite of what is underneath.
