Growing Up

When I was a young girl I'd use to play
With stuffed animals and dolls all day
but when I grew up, there was something I knew
That in order to be mature, there were certain things you had to do

Like hang out with friends and walk a certain way
not hang out by yourself playing with dolls all day
You needed to develop your own ideas and try new things
Wear cool clothes and accessories like rings

But I still had time to act like a young girl
I wasn't old enough that I couldn't laugh and twirl
There were still some years until I had to officially act my age
If I wanted to, I could be weird and even act like a mage

There are certain people that won't judge you no matter what you do
There are certain people that will love you unconditionally, Can you guess who?
These people are friends, you'll cherish them dearly
Friends, the ones who help you see clearly

They help you grow up and become the person you want to be
They aren't to be bought, you can get them for free
Always to stand by you, in good times and bad
There will be many fun times to be had

Just remember, keep them close and remember they're people too
Don't use them for your own personal gain, because you love them, yes you do
Deep down inside, you know of their importance
Love them unconditionally and always give them a second chance
May there be fights or frets
Second chances are the best

They are your friends and will help you grow
into the person you want to be, with responsibilities like learning to mow
If you're feeling a tad immature and young
They'll act along with you, making sure you don't trip over your tongue
To help and to lead
Is definitely their creed
Wanting to make you a better person

With the love of a friend
