Remember

Remember her smile

The one that seemed to trigger yours

Remember her words

The ones that you will forever cherish

Remember her laugh

That brought on all the good times

Remember the woman who was known as many things

Whether it be mom, granny, or friend

I know I do

But I also remember the woman

Who was confined to that bed

The woman whose young and vibrant soul

Was stuck inside a forever ageing body

I remember holding her warm hands

So carefully as they felt frail in mine

A now that I think about it

I remember feeling anger

Questioning myself,

"Isn't there more that they can do?"

God only knows

But there is one thing I do know

That right now as I speak

Her soul is lifted above us on the wings of the holy spirit

And that she is smiling down upon us all
