Flickering Light

He can't quite remember when it started
When was the day that his heart departed?
He started building a cage, a prison
Slowly hes been killed and can't be risen.
A lock of cold glass and bars made of bone
Trapped in this cavern he sat- alone

He misses the sky, and every shade of blue,
He's taunted by every color and hue
Inside this cage is only black and white
A world without meaning, drowning without light.
Happiness was an idea lost in the from the past
Suffocating slowly, each breath is his last

He's tried to feel alive, the warmth on his skin
But this battle with himself is one he can't win
There's only pain around him, entwined with regret
Each bone is crumbling but he's not free yet.
