The End.

As darkness falls
I close my eyes.
It swallows me whole,
But I don't mind.
An escape from reality,
That's what this is.
I like this place,
For no man can call me his.
Here I'm not a slave
To do a biding not my own,
And no longer will I cry at night
Because I feel alone.
So mother please don't worry,
This place should not be feared,
And forever in my heart you'll be
Held so very dear.
I ask you one more favor,
Tell my story true,
And promise never to forget
How much I'll always love you.
The time has come to say "Good-bye",
But this is not the end;
Tell the family how much I love them,
But also tell my friends.

I feel it should be noted, that though this may be a dark poem, it does not necessarily represent how I view things. I had a random inspiration to write this about 4-5 years ago, and only just recently found it. What was once supposed to be a poem about being bored at work (I worked in a grocery store at the time) evolved into what you have just read, and I'd be lying if I didn't say it made others watch me a bit more closely for a little while, there.
