Lifescript

The siren has grown stale with age
Meanwhile, the kids in the neighborhood
Are all playing catch with the atom bomb
Getting by when all they need comes off a page

Making friends with all our favorite mirrors
Genius in a bottle, we always steer clearer
As a living, breathing, pipedream choir
Foolish idealist, sink into your chosen mire

To prove the pen was not a sword
You've built yourself a storyboard
Out of everything you couldn't understand
This stretch of desert was your promised land

The words are inscrutable
Read in blood, and red with blood
You reached into the crucible!

Drawn across the graven silence
Prying away what little you could
Just to reap some guidance

Cowards dream another dream
When reality's not so favorable
Others clutch their chests and scream
Their intervention wasn't viable

We drip hungrily down the walls;
Huddling close to the surrogate flame
This miserable sheet of wax will fall
Tranquilized and sure of shame

Priceless symmetry, kinship with the gods
Since we know them all by face and name
Perfectly assimilated, they outweigh the odds
But they don't see ahead, they don't store the grain

We're all paler than the moon again

Temptation is a wafting scent
Leeching my tears out of thirst
A stone to catch in cruel descent
Which one will hit the ground first?

Amateur lyrics, mostly in quatrains. A lot of inspiration went into this. Don't take it at face value, please. There's a lot of thought put into it, even if it isn't in plain sight.
