The Promise

Surrounding sounds sooth my soul
As I at last hear your voice mixed in,
Yet you're drifting away
And it's killing me slowly from the inside out.

I can't stand to know that I'm losing you
When I had just gotten you back,
Yet you're gone now
And there's nothing I can do;

Except dream my hardest--
that you'll come back,
that you'll still love me,
that you'll hold and kiss me once more,
but most of all that you'll be there for me.

Every night that passes, I try to forget.
Every new day that drifts away slowly,
it all comes back as I am reminded of you.
Yet I'll never forget you
And you'll always have my heart.

I hope every year that you're gone
That you remember me any way you can,
Yet don't give away a chance,
And I won't either.
