Don't Let Go
As I look into your eyes I say to myself “don’t look away until she does”
As I hug you I say to myself “wait until she lets go then let go”
As I hold you in my arms I whisper to you “this is why I love you”
As I say goodbye to you when I drive out your driveway I say to myself “I’ll miss you tonight”
As I watch you play with my hand I say to myself “should I hold your hand or let it go”
As I write this poem for you I say to myself “please don’t cry”
As I finish this poem I say to myself “how will I show this to you”
As I love you with all my heart I say to myself “does she love me more than I love her”
I honestly think no one can love you as much as I love you
As I hug you I say to myself “wait until she lets go then let go”
As I hold you in my arms I whisper to you “this is why I love you”
As I say goodbye to you when I drive out your driveway I say to myself “I’ll miss you tonight”
