(Not) A Love Song

I'll write you a love song,
With the happy words left out.
Because our happiness turned to misery,
So that's what our love song's about.

I'll take out all the kisses.
I'll forget the doodled hearts.
Is it still a romance song,
Without the happy parts?

I'll work hardest on the ending,
When you left me standing there.
With a heart full of broken songs,
All these lonely words to share.

I guess I can't write a love song,
Our love song's incomplete.
Because like my heart,
Without you here,
It just doesn't have a beat.

Well...
I hope you enjoyed it. This was my first crack at poetry since 7th grade.
Feedback would be lovely and I would be happy to return the favor.
