Steadfast Time

It’s funny how time works.
One day, I’m alone,
The next, I standing beside you.
When did that happen?

I don’t understand how you’re here,
Why you’re here.
Not that I mind,
As long as you are there.

It’s funny how time works.
You’re here now,
But for how long?
Time goes by, closer to our depart.
I wish time was steadfast.

I always wanted things to go,
I wanted them to go by fast.
Yet, now, I want it all to pause.
Maybe even to rewind.

Time brought you to me,
So why is it taking you away, too?
But for now, I just want you here.

It’s funny how time works.
You’re here now,
But for how long?
Time goes by, closer to our depart.
I wish time was steadfast.
