Thunderstorm

She lied under the cover
Clutching the sheet with trembling hands
Her palms sweating though the air was freezing
Her legs growing numb from the invisible pressure
Her teeth chattering in sync with the heavy raindrops
As the lightning flashed upon her figure
And the thunder followed not long after
Striking the sky with harrowing blow
Piercing its sound into her eardrums
Breaking through them, pulsating her bloodflow

She jumped in terror and fell off the bed
Crawling on the carpet, reaching for anything ahead
Before the lightning once again flashed
Right before her eyes
Her breath hitched, her movements halted
For the deafening sound had once again erupted
Out the window, behind the curtain
Wrapping her in stupefaction

This went on forever
And she could do nothing
She could go nowhere
For the thunder had enveloped her
With immense tensity and fear
That she could impossibly bear
So she lied there on the solid ground
Curling, shivering, recoiling
From both the temperature and the sound
Of the thunder and its unlimited bound
