In The Darkness

In the darkness, a soul shall sit
To contemplate the endless pit,
shake a hand of solemn heart,
to watch the cold waves fall apart

Sitting on the sand so damp
Grasping life's ever dimming lamp
Witness clouds that hang so low
Making haste to lose, to know

Shaking from the night's cold grip
Shrinking towards the faithful trip
Losing all that weighed too heavy
Knowing all that was unsteady

Feel the piercing tears above
Coming all from those that love
Tear the skies to deny its hand
All too much to reprimand

Let Death be nurtured by the touch
Regret too little and risk too much
Insipid faces and fading colors
Dissolving slowly, just like the others

In the darkness, a soul shall sit
To contemplate the endless pit,
shake a hand of solemn heart,
and feel the cold waves fall apart
