A Different Day.

I met you when you couldn't look me in the eyes.
And the first thing you did was apologize.
Now we're huggin and kissin in front of the bar;
And dancin along to music in the back of your car.

Never did I think that it'd end up this way;
But the last thing I'll do is start to complain;
Cause now I'm smilin when I lay down in bed;
Goin over all the words that you had said;

"Listen to me; let's set this straight.
The past is the past; it's a different day;
I'll be here when you need me;
No matter when or why;
Just know that I will be there;
Right by your side."

Remember the times we had; when we were young?
Gettin in all sorts of trouble under the light of the sun.
Bringin back those days won't be as hard as it seems;
Cause now I've got you; and I know you've got me.

Memories are worth a thousand words; or so they say;
But if they had a voice; they couldn't get me to stay.
Tomorrow's lookin brighter when I'm holding your hand;
And it seems to have a message and better kind of plan;

It says;
"Listen to me; let's set this straight.
The past is the past; now it's a different day.
I'll be here when you need me;
No matter when or why;
Just know that I will be there;
Right by your side."

It's a weird kind of story; but a fun one to tell;
How a different kind of heaven came from hell.
It's not what I expected; or even dreamt about;
But that doesn't matter cause you're here now.

"Listen to me; I've got something to say;
The past is the past; but it's a different day.
I'm always here if you need me;
No matter when or why;
Just know that I'll be there;
Right at your side."
