I Never Thought

I never thought I would never see you again.
I always knew you were going to be there,
but then the day came when you would never see
the dawn, and you lie there lifeless,
and you were drawn from my life forever
Forever gone you will stay until the day comes
when I will meet you outside those heavenly gates.
Oh, what a day that would be.
A day as great as that should be in history.
But I never thought I would ever see you again,
and now I say hello, because we are together
at last and forever we remain.
